Church Interior Restoration

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I have been your pastor for 3 years now and I have been associated with both the old friary and parish since 1976.

I have always been inspired by the people of our parish community. The parish has always displayed an active ministry with the poor through various outreach ministries such as N.E.W. Shelter, St. Vincent DePaul, Paul’s Pantry and other outreach events. The parish has always been a very welcoming faith community esp. to newcomers, a true hallmark of a Franciscan parish. That is part of your legacy, we hope, for years to come.

Now we prepare for our 2018-19 interior restoration and the sale of the old friary building and church property by the Franciscans coming at the end of the year. We need to move out of the church proper for the time of restoration, and the new owners to work together so all new heating and air conditioning and electrical systems will be restored in a timely manner.

January, 2019 we will no longer be paying rent. But with the new owners we will have to pay for all utilities that the church/parish uses.

I invite you to make sure you pass this information on to your families and neighbors, esp. our homebound and infirm members.

I have asked the parish office to put this notice in the bulletin and other places of communication until the end of next month.

The last Mass in the church proper will be Christ the King Sunday, Nov. 25th.

The following weekend begins the Advent season. Starting in Advent  the Saturday 4pm Mass and the Sunday 9am Mass and all Holyday Masses will be held in the gymnasium.
